Ray Ban Sunglasses
Founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb, Ray Ban is a highend producer of designer sunglasses. They established the brand and design of these sunglasses on charge of the United States Air Force. The Luxottica Group bought the designer brand in 1999 from Bausch & Lomb.
Ray Ban created two of the most popular sunglasses models in existence. They were the Ray Ban Wayfarer and the Ray Ban Aviator. These sunglasses were made exclusively for the military pilots in 1936. They became obtainable by the public in general in 1937.
Ray Ban popularity has risen with their use in the films Top Gun, The Blues Brothers and the television production Miami Vice.
The aviators are designed to cover as much area as possible and to prevent as much sunlight as is possible from entering the eyesocket. These sunglasses have again become popular due to the style and the fact that alot of rock groups wear them.
