Ban Aviator Sunglasses

Ray Ban Aviator sunglasses were created by Ray-Ban in 1937. They are characterized by dark reflective lenses with an area two or three times the area of the eye socket, and metalic frames with wire temples which attach behind the ears. Modern models are frequently polarized.
Distinguished wearers of Aviators comprise popular actors, musicians, artists and other celebrities such as Micheal Jackson, Tom Cruise, Hunter S. Thompson, Lou Reed, Jim Morrison, Freddie Mercury, Tom Petty, Donny Tourette, Kanye West, M. Shadows, Nathaniel Amos, E-40, Cam Kelley, PJ Rufo, and numerous others.
Ray Ban aviators were given their name because of their sloping teardrop shape, which matched those of the smoked-lens flying goggles which Ray-Ban was then selling to the Army and Navy. Though the early goggles were replaced by 1941, the sunglasses had become fashionable, particularly with Naval aviators. Army/Air Force aviators favored the smaller, more-squarish American Optical straight-temple glasses, which can be put on and detached even at the same time as wearing a flying helmet.
